We can’t believe it: Uni Games is just around the corner! Six days of fun under the Gold Coast sun that makes for a much-deserved break from the gruelling Uni semester! While we know you’re going to have so much fun, we know deep down that your competitive streak might make an appearance. Let’s face it, we all want to win!
So to get you excited, here are our top tips to get you prepared for the 2017 Uni Games!
Get packing
Hands up if you leave packing until the very last moment! If you’re off on a holiday and you forget your toothbrush or bathers – it’s usually not a big deal. But if you’re heading to Uni Games and you leave your lucky socks or your S-Trend uniform behind, it’s a whole other story! It’s always a great idea to write yourself a checklist and work your way through it to make sure you don’t leave anything too important behind, that you might need on your trip.
Get meal prepping
Grab your notepad, it’s time to get meal prepping! We know when you’re on a trip with all of your mates, it can be tempting to eat out every day, but if you want to achieve your potential it’s a great idea to make sure you meal prep for the games. Prepping your meals in advance will also give you a bit of extra time to explore or focus on your training.
On the day of your big match, it’s always a good idea to eat foods rich in carbohydrates to make sure your body is ready to go. Make sure to always pack a few of your favourite sweets to keep your blood sugar up.
Get lots of rest
There’s no denying that Uni Games is all about having fun! It’s a great opportunity to take a break from your daily routine, and make some memories with your mates. But to be at your best getting a good night’s rest before and after you complete is essential.
8 hours of sleep can aid in both short-term and long-term recovery, so if you want to get out and explore after your tournament’s over without serious soreness, a good night’s sleep is a must.
Stay hydrated
It’s also super important to make sure you’re always staying hydrated, especially in the Queensland heat! Staying hydrated during exercise is important for your circulation and recovery.
Not only can dehydration lead to nasty headaches, it can also increase your chance of cramping and fatigue. Keeping a full water bottle with you at all times during Uni Games will ensure you’re performing at your best, all week long!
